Top five maternity spring/summer coats

The sun has finally made an appearance making us feel all spring like.

And while the temperatures may not yet be high enough to encourage us to ditch that winter maternity coat, we hope that we'll soon seen warmer days.

Get ahead of the shopping craze and invest in a maternity spring jacket  or coat from now.

Opt for a classic trench, which will last you through the spring/summer months and goes with just about anything, or go for an on-trend thin maternity leather jacket that's perfect for a night out or special occasion.

Below are just a few of our faves.

Autumn/Winter 2012 trends: The kooky tee. We pick our top maternity ones as well as novelty Christmas prints

Being pregnant is a fun and exciting time for any mum-to-be and thanks to one autumn/winter 2012 trend, you can channel these feelings through your style.

This season Burberry, Marc by Marc Jacobs and 3.1 Phillip Lim were just a few designers who decided to add a playful element to their collections, teaming up key grown up pieces such as tweed skirts and blazers with playful kooky print tees.

And the great thing about this trend is anything goes. Team up a motif tee, that's a staple maternity piece, with a sensible work skirt or be more daring and go for cartoon character prints with smart trousers for that perfect autumn/winter 2012 inspired fashion clash.

We've picked out our fave kooky tees, including some novelty Christmas inspired ranges, to help you follow this trend in the gallery below.

Kooky tees, like this one at Burberry, were hot on the Autumn/Winter 2012 catwalks

Go for an illustrated tee, like this one from Asos, £12, to show off the trend.

Christmas is coming, and this novelty maternity long sleeved tee, £17.45, from Zazzle, is a great way to stay on-trend as well as celebrate the festive season.

We heart this Cookie Monster long sleeved tee, which is great for a playful take on the trend. Blooming Marvelous at Mothercare, £12,

This Mr Men inspired tee is a great cheeky take on the trend. £12.50 Mothercare

Go all grown up and loosely channel this trend with this motif vest from Topshop, £18.

Top five Oriental inspired pieces for your maternity AW 2012 wardrobe

The Far East made an appearance on a range on AW 2012 catwalks, with intricate floral prints, kimono styles and silks all giving a nod to the Oriental trend.

And this look, showcased by the likes of Balmain, Zac Posen and Dries Van Noten, lends itself perfectly to the maternity world thanks to the silhouettes it channels.

Wrap style kimonos, billowing sleeves and loose silk numbers are perfect for dressing that bump.

And you can be as creative as you like here. Keep it simple with a printed tee teamed with jeans or vamp it up on a night out with a silk maxi number, which will give a subtle nod to the trend.

See the gallery below for some of our virtual highstreet takes of this trend.

AW 2012 Trends: Military inspired maternity wear

Military influences were in full force on the London Fashion Week AW 2012 catwalks.

Big brassy buttons appeared on double breasted tailored coats, while structured, wrap dresses and jackets gave a more subtle nod to the trend.

Traditional khakis and blacks were joined by bright neon colours, thanks to bold moves by Prada, while studs shown by the likes of Burberry and Alexander McQueen, were added to bring the trend into this season.

Of course the maternity fashion world has taken note of this hot trend, with a range of stores introducing a range of military inspired blouses and coats.

However, the great thing here is that you don't have to stick to maternity wear. Give a nod to the look with a military style cap, or pick a pair of military inspired flat boots, which will last you throughout your pregnancy and into next winter too.

See the gallery below for some of our military inspired maternity faves.
